There's So Much to Love About Lizards

Adopt a pet that can lick its eyeballs

Lizards are an incredibly varied species, ranging in size from a few inches to more than six feet long. They come in many colors and temperaments, and they thrive all around the world. It's very common for a new reptile keeper to start with one of the smaller lizards as their first reptile. At Buffalo Reptiles, we offer several common lizards.

Our selection includes:

  • Bearded dragons: This is a desert species that needs a very warm basking spot and must have regular UVB light. They eat vegetables, fruits, and insects. They reach about 12 to 15 inches in length.
  • Leopard geckos: These small lizards grow to about eight inches long and are also a desert species. They need a basking spot as well. Leopard geckos are carnivores, so they eat crickets, worms and other insects.
  • Nile monitors: These lizards get very large, with some reaching five to six feet in length. Young monitors will eat insects and small fish, while adults will eat shellfish, mollusks, fish, chicks and mice.

Provide the right care for your lizard

Provide the right care for your lizard

The bearded dragon is the most popular lizard we sell, most likely due to its small size, docile temperament and relatively simple feeding requirements. Lizards make excellent pets, but if their light, heat and food requirements aren't met, they can develop bone deformities and other devastating illnesses. That's why it's important to select the right lizard for your home.
